Things to Do for Your Safety

Do you know that your garage door is the biggest and the heaviest moving object in your home? Well, it is also an essential one as well. It can protect your car from the outside weather of mother nature, help you store you valuable tools, children’s bikes, garden watering system and many more. At the same time, it can cause injury or even death if damaged & not repaired. You need to make sure that you and your family know how to operate and maintain your garage at all times. Here are some important things everyone in your household should have knowledge about:

The garage door is not something to play with. These are huge 500+ pounder objects that if mishandled, can hurt you in the worst ways or even kill you.

Parents should make sure that their kids don’t have access to the remote controls at any cost. Children don’t understand the risks and may injure themselves in the process of playing with them. Some operation is done with push buttons and parents needs to make sure that they are located at least 5 ft off the floor so that it out of reach of their kids.

When you garage door is closing, you should make sure you are standing far away from it. Many of us try to walk while it is moving and it can be fatal. Simply stand at a distance till the door completely opens or closes.

Children should not be allowed to play with the garage door, nor should they stay or play under or near any garage, especially when it is on the move.

Another common mistake we make is keeping our hands or fingers at door sections while it is in motion. We must be careful to stay as far from it as possible.

Make sure you get skilled technicians to have an annual checkup. Don’t shy away from spending some money which will help you prevent further losses and even save your life.

Remember, the operating runs on electricity so naturally, you should be careful about not getting electric shocks.

Be careful whenever you feel like doing any repair works. Most of the parts are subjected to high tension maintaining such weight and it may cause severe injury.
